Prayer Shawl Ministry

Prayer Shawls are crocheted as a offering to comfort those in need of prayer and comfort. Each month, the prayer shawls are prayed upon and blessed by the pastor and congregation of Mount Washington United Methodist Church, . If you or someone you know is in need of prayer, please fill out the form below or contact the church.  For more information on our Prayer Shawl Ministry see our article in the Independence Examiner:

What goes into a prayer shawl?

The average shawl takes at least 16 ounces of yarn.  That amount equals 832 yards of yarn.

There are about 110 to 128 rows of pattern in each shawl.  Every row of pattern takes a certain number of movements of the hand.  So, to complete a shawl it will take in the neighborhood of 28,048 movements of the right or left hand.
